THE MAURICE KANBAR STUDENT WRITERS COMPETITION          [ en español ]

Short Screenplay Competition
The 2008 Binational Independent Film Festival

This contest is open only to Students (High School Seniors and College Students) 18 years or older. If you're not enrolled, and attending a High School or College you will be automatically disqualified.

  1. Any genre will be considered.
  2. Screenplays should not have been previously optioned, sold, or produced.
  3. Screenplays should not be for a short of more than 18 minutes, or less than 8 minutes. In other words from a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 pages.
  4. More than one Screenplay can be entered, but each one will be entered separately.
  5. Screenplays must be the original work of the author (authors).
  6. The Festival recommends copyrighting your material with the Library of Congress.
  7. Once the Screenplay is submitted no corrections, additions, or substitutions will be permitted, under any circumstances.
  8. Each Screenplay must be accompanied by the following: an official entry form and and a separate cover page.
  9. Screenplay submission deadline is December 15, 2007.
  10. Screenplays written by more than one author are acceptable. But in the case of a win, the authors will be responsible for dividing the award.

Short Screenplay Guidelines
The 2008 Binational Independent Film Festival

  1. Screenplay can be submitted in English or in Spanish (they will compete separately).
  2. The Script should be a copy of the original. Do not submit originals, since materials will not be returned at all.
  3. Script should have TWO title pages. The first one, with only the title of the entry, should be attached in front of the screenplay. The second will include the title, author’s name, address, and phone number, and should be submitted by itself.
  4. Script’s pages should be numbered.
  5. Script must be on plain white paper.
  6. Script covers should be card stock or plastic.

Concurso de Escritores de Cortometrajes
Festival Binacional De Cine Independiente 2008

Este concurso esta abierto unicamente para Estudiantes (Estudiantes del último año de Bachillerato o de Universidad) que hayan cumplído 18 años de edad.

  1. Los libretos pueden ser submitidos en Ingles o en Espanol (competiran separadamente).
  2. Los libretos que sean inscritos no pueden haber sido comprados, o estar en proceso de compra, asi como publicados, o estar en proceso de publicacion.
  3. Los cortometrajes no deben de ser de mas de 18 Minutos, ni de menos de 8 Minutos de duracion. En otras palabras de 10 a 20 paginas.
  4. Un autor, o autores, pueden inscribir mas de un libreto, pero tendran que hacer inscripciones multiples (una por cada libreto).
  5. Los libretos tienen que ser idea y libreto ORIGINAL de cada autor, o autores.
  6. Los organizadores sugieren el registro previo del material a la Asociacion de Autores y Compositores.
  7. No se acceptaran substituciones, correcciones, o paginas adicionales una vez inscrito el material, bajo ninguna circumstancia.
  8. Cada participante tiene que entregar lo siguiente: Forma Oficial de Registro, Hoja principal del libreto, y el libreto.
  9. La fecha limite para inscripcion es el 15 de deciembre del 2007.
  10. En el caso de autores multiples, si el libreto gana es la responsabilidad de los autores la reparticion del premio.

  1. Los libretos tienen pueden estar escritos en Español o Inglés (competiran separadamente).
  2. Los libretos tienen que ser copias del original. Por favor no mandar originales, pues el material no se devolvera bajo ninguna circumstancia.
  3. Favor de submitir DOS paginas de titulo (hoja principal). La primera, con solo el titulo del cortometraje, debe de estar pegada al libreto. La segunda, debe incluir titulo, nombre del autor, direccion, y telefono, y tiene que ser entregada suelta.
  4. Las hojas del libreto tienen que estar numeradas.
  5. Las hojas tienen que ser de papel bond blanco normal.
  6. Las cubiertas deben de ser de carton o plastico.
